Sorenson Debuts Hybrid Cloud/On-Prem Squeeze

Keep your encoding on your own computers, but have the option of using cloud encoding when you need it. That's the promise of the just-launched Sorenson Squeeze Server on Premise.

The new product brings Sorenson encoding to any enterprise server infrastructure. In house, it lets a company load-balance its entire video encoding workflow through a single dashboard using a common set of APIs. Encoding is powered by the Sorenson Squeeze encoding engine.

When the local server is overtaxed, Squeeze Server on Premise can send work to Sorenson's cloud-based enterprise encoding systems: Squeeze Managed Server and Squeeze Solution Pack. The idea is to let enterprises scale up their capabilities as needed.

"With Squeeze Server on Premise and our hybrid solutions, we have made it intuitive and seamless for major media organizations and other enterprises to augment their internal resources and capabilities with unrivaled encoding and transcoding power, whenever and however they need it," says Peter Csathy, Sorenson Media's president and CEO.

This hybrid solution offers users encoding presets that are optimized for specific devices. Customers can also take advantage of Sorenson's consulting services to output video for specific devices or create efficient workflows.

Sorenson Squeeze Server on Premise is available now. Those interested should contact Sorenson sales for pricing information.
